Just as Christ's Ascension ultimately brought Him closer to us rather than taking Him away, the Assumption of Mary signifies that she is now profoundly present to us as a heavenly mother, whose perfectly transparent life reflects the Holy Spirit and provides us with the comforting, maternal face of God's love to guide and protect us.
